However, we may agree to extend the duration of sessions, based on your individual needs and preferences, at no additional cost up to 80-minutes.

This can be based on your own preferences, alongside what is likely to be most helpful for your individual difficulties.
Typically, people prefer to meet weekly, and the evidence suggests that more frequent sessions can result in better outcomes. However, we may agree to meet more or less frequently, or to vary this over the course of therapy.
In most instances, you will be able to decide on the frequency and timing of appointments using my online booking system.
The total number of sessions can vary depending on your individual needs, the difficulties you are facing, and your own preferences.
Most people require between 8 to 20 sessions to achieve their goals, but often people feel much better after only a few sessions, or prefer to continue making changes independently, based on what they have learned.
Please consider scheduling a FREE no-obligation 15-minute video or telephone consultation to discuss these sorts of questions with me directly.
Regardless of whether you decide to pursue therapy with me, I would be very happy to take this time to offer advice on different ways to access help (including on the NHS), based on your individual circumstances. It will also give you a chance to get to know me a little bit and consider whether I might be a good fit for you. You can also get in touch to ask any questions via the website contact form.
Alternatively, particularly if you are not currently in a financial position to self-fund therapy, it may be helpful to talk to your GP or consider a self-referral to NHS 'West Sussex Talking Therapies' online or by telephone.
It is a common myth that we do not talk about the past in CBT!
This probably arises from the fact that some of the most effective CBT approaches have been developed to overcome current symptoms, such as those related to anxiety, depression, OCD, or PTSD. There are also many effective self-help based CBT interventions that do not include consideration of past life-events.
The reality is that individualised CBT therapy often involves an in-depth exploration and processing of past events and early experiences, particularly those that were traumatic or linked to the origin of particular beliefs about yourself or the world.
However, such decisions are always based on your individual preferences and goals, or what you might want to prioritise in therapy.
Making a choice about the right therapist for you is a very personal decision. I would encourage you to consider your own preferences and perhaps discuss this with someone you trust. In my opinion, the connection you experience with your therapist is one of the most important factors in achieving a successful outcome.
Many individuals feed back to me that they were unsure about seeing a male therapist, until meeting me during their first session. So, if you have similar thoughts, please do not hesitate to book a FREE no-obligation video or telephone consultation to help decide if I might be a good fit.
