BACKGROUND
I have always sought to understand how people experience the world and had an ability to empathise and connect with others. My personal values of respect and acceptance of all individuals, a commitment to relieve suffering, and continually seeking to improve my understanding and capabilities, have driven my career choices and passion for delivering evidence-based CBT.
I grew up locally in East Sussex, but also worked for several years in New Zealand, alongside taking time off with my wife to travel the world and experience other cultures (and foods!). I now live locally in the Chichester area and have two young daughters, who are continually teaching me more about how the world really works.
EDUCATION
I qualified as a registered mental health nurse (RMN) in 2007, gaining a broad range of experience supporting individuals within inpatient and community services. In 2016, I made the decision to undertake a Post-Graduate Diploma in CBT, to become a therapist and pursue my passion for delivering evidence-based therapy that really works.
Since that time I have been consistently engaged in further training on a range of specialised CBT interventions for various problems, perhaps most notably a 20-week programme on delivering Cognitive Therapy for PTSD & C-PTSD with the Oxford Centre for Anxiety Disorders and Trauma. I am also a trained CBT supervisor and more recently completed a Post-Graduate Certificate in learning and teaching in higher education.
EXPERIENCE
I've been practicing in NHS Talking therapies services as a CBT therapist and supervisor, since 2017. During this time, I have had the privilege to support many people to understand and overcome a wide range of psychological difficulties. I have developed a specialist interest in the effective treatment of anxiety disorders and PTSD and am grateful to each person I have worked with for expanding my understanding through sharing their personal experiences.
My practice has also benefitted from learning through the supervision of other CBT therapists, including in my role as a lecturer and supervisor on a Post-Graduate Diploma in Pyschological intervention (CBT).

He has the ability to be fully present, calm and grounding and to unpick and unpack what feels initially impossible to unravel. I have acquired more skills and confidence with him than any supervisor. I highly recommend him as a supervisor"
- Delphine Watts, CBT therapist
"Having Tim as my supervisor through CBT training was such a privilege. He strikes the perfect balance between seriously knowing his stuff while also being incredible understanding and encouraging. Thank you!"
